This policy explains how Inteligbl Pty Ltd handles information when you use Simi, including Simi Uni.

 

Simi provides personalised speech practice, simulations and intelligibility feedback. Our principle is “Clarity, not conformity.”

 

Information used by Simi

You can use the public Simi Uni experience without creating an account or providing your name or email address.

 

Depending on your choices and use of the app, Simi processes:

• Voice recordings made during speech exercises.

• Speech-analysis results, scores and practice information.

• Information you select during onboarding, such as your home country, language, field of study and speech-practice preferences.

• A persistent device identifier that connects practice sessions and diagnostic records from the same device.

• Technical information about lesson generation, processing times, errors and app performance.

• Information you voluntarily provide when contacting us.

 

Not requiring a name or email does not make all information anonymous. Voice recordings may identify a person, and the device identifier allows records to be connected across sessions.

 

Microphone access and recordings

Simi requests microphone permission so you can record speech exercises. Speech scoring in the current public Simi Uni experience takes place on your device.

Separately, Simi asks whether you agree to upload copies of your recordings, together with exercise prompts and scoring results, to help us troubleshoot problems, evaluate performance and improve our speech technology.

This recording sharing is optional. If you choose “Not now”, you can continue practising without uploading recordings through these optional recording-storage paths.

If you agree, recordings may be temporarily stored on your device while waiting to upload. Failed uploads may be retried while your recording consent remains valid.

Microphone permission and permission to share recordings are separate choices.

Lesson generation and diagnostics

Simi uses online services to generate personalised lessons and provide supporting content. These requests can include your selected learning context, speech-practice targets and device identifier.

The app also sends technical diagnostics and certain practice results to help us investigate errors and maintain the service. Declining optional recording uploads does not disable all online processing or diagnostic reporting.

How we use information

We use information to:

• Provide personalised lessons, exercises and feedback.

• Understand how well Simi’s features and speech technology work.

• Diagnose errors and respond to support requests.

• Maintain and improve service reliability.

• Validate and improve speech-recognition and scoring technology where you have agreed to share recordings.

 

Service providers and disclosure

Simi uses external infrastructure and service providers to operate its services. Supabase provides storage and database services for optional recording uploads and associated records.

Other providers may support hosting, lesson generation and generated speech content. Information needed for those services may be processed by those providers.

We may also disclose information where required or authorised by law.

Storage and security

Information may be stored on your device and on servers used to operate Simi. Our providers may process information outside Australia.

We take reasonable steps to protect information against unauthorised access, misuse, loss and disclosure. No storage or transmission system can guarantee absolute security.

 

Retention and deletion

We retain information for as long as reasonably necessary for the purposes described in this policy, including providing the service, investigating problems and evaluating speech

technology.

Retention depends on the type of information and why it is held. This policy does not promise automatic deletion after a fixed number of days.

You can request deletion of recordings and associated information by emailing nick@inteligbl.com. We may need additional information to locate your records because Simi Uni does not require an account, name or email address.

Deleting the app does not itself request deletion of information already uploaded to our servers.

​

Your choices and requests

You can decline optional recording sharing and still use speech practice.

You can disable microphone access through your device settings. This prevents new speech recordings but does not delete recordings already uploaded.

To request access, correction, deletion, or withdrawal of recording-sharing consent, contact nick@inteligbl.com. We will explain any steps needed to locate your records and apply your request.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy when Simi or our information-handling practices change. The current policy will be available on our website. Where a change requires new consent, we will request it.
